Risk Controls
CurvLogic's rule engine provides automated protection for your live trading portfolio — loss limits, drawdown monitoring, time-based schedules, and news event avoidance.
Automated Risk Rules
The EA Control engine continuously evaluates your configured rules and takes automated protective action when thresholds are breached. All rules are configured per-EA from the web dashboard.
Loss & Profit Limits
Set maximum loss or target profit thresholds for each EA. When a threshold is reached, the EA is automatically stopped. Configure limits as:
- Absolute dollar amounts
- Percentage of account balance
- Per-day, per-week, or per-month periods
Drawdown Monitoring
Multiple layers of drawdown protection:
- Floating drawdown — monitors unrealized losses from peak equity in real time
- Daily drawdown — tracks cumulative realized + unrealized loss within a trading day
- Configurable actions — pause the EA (with auto-resume timer), stop the EA, or close all trades
Time Schedules
Restrict EA trading to specific hours and days, with timezone support. Common use cases:
- Avoiding low-liquidity periods (weekends, holidays, market opens/closes)
- Focusing on specific trading sessions (London, New York, Tokyo, Sydney)
- Pausing during planned maintenance windows
News Avoidance
CurvLogic monitors economic calendars for high-impact news events and can automatically pause trading around them:
- Configurable buffer periods before and after events (e.g., 30 minutes each side)
- Filter by impact level (high, medium, low)
- Filter by currency pair relevance to each EA
- Automatic resume after the buffer period expires
Portfolio Impact Analysis
Before deploying any new EA, CurvLogic helps you understand its impact on your existing portfolio:
- Correlation analysis — how correlated is the candidate with your existing live EAs?
- Live vs. backtest drift — is an existing EA's live performance diverging from its backtest expectations?
- Portfolio balance targets — define your target portfolio composition (balance, leverage, risk level) and see how a new EA affects the overall risk profile
Health Monitoring
Per-EA health scoring provides an ongoing assessment of each EA's performance trajectory:
- Automatic health classification: Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor
- 60-day health history trend visualization
- Early warning when an EA's performance begins to deteriorate
In graduated deployment mode, health scores influence phase advancement — EAs that maintain good health are promoted, while those showing deterioration can be automatically deactivated.
Audit Trail
Every automated action is logged — when a rule triggers, what action was taken, and why. The action log provides a complete audit trail of all control events, giving you full visibility into how the risk engine is protecting your portfolio.
